For a long time I fixed these problems from the inside, one company at a time: the CFO in the seat, the President signing off, the CEO making the call. At some point it made more sense to stop doing it one company at a time and build what I'd learned into something that lasts. That's MarkR Management Inc. From here on, this is really about the firm, not me.
MarkR is a small management and software practice. We take on a handful of advisory engagements where finance and governance need a steady hand, and we build software that turns the same thinking into tools other people can use. I still do the work. I just happen to be one part of MarkR now, not the whole thing.
How MarkR works
Roughly how the work goes.
Whether it's a CFO seat, a board role, or a software build, the shape is usually the same.
01
Find the leak
A quick, honest read of where the business is losing value, in cash, in margin, or in governance.
02
Frame the decision
Turn the data you already have into the few numbers that actually drive the call in front of you.
03
Build the system
Put the forecast, the reporting, or the operating tool in place so the fix holds without us.
04
Hand it back
Leave the company a bit stronger and more self-sufficient. The best engagements make themselves unnecessary.
Track record
Three decades, built into the firm.
Engagement details stay confidential. References available on request for serious conversations.
